I'm going to post a few comments in the various areas, but before I do that, I want to start with a huge Thank You to Alexandra, Greg, and the rest of GC for putting this all together.
We had a great time, and really appreciate all the hard work you guys put into this. Since we helped out with BATH 2, I realize in particular the challenges involved with incorporating other peoples puzzles into a cohesive event, and I think you guys did a fantastic job!!

You did more than "help" in BATH2, Rich - you were core GC and a delight to work with. A belated (four years late) public thanks to YOU |

Thanks Alexandra! It was great working with you too.
I can't believe that was 4 years ago, though. Wow how time flies... |

I've gotta second everything Rich said - this was really a great event. To put together all the teams and all the puzzles and make it thematically consistent and tons of fun is really an incredibly difficult task and GC pulled it off with aplomb. Both the puzzle authors and the puzzle editors (GC) deserve a lot of kudos - over and over we said "wow, that was a really good puzzle".
I'm always happy with GCs that try new things and I think there were a lot of new things here and a lot of success with them. It was fun to have a break at night - can't say that I would want all games to work that way but it worked great for this one, fun to eat and socialize both in a group.
I loved digging stuff up. Favorite puzzle: sliding crates on the beach. Well done lowkey!
And I can't believe how cool the bonus metapuzzle was. The final metapuzzle was pretty sweet, but if you'd asked me ahead of time if it was possible to make the final metapuzzle work in the way it did, not sure I would have thought that was at all workable. I like metapuzzles a lot, so kudos to GC for doing such a great job with this one.
I hope this sort of format makes some teams that might not think they could run a whole game reconsider. Perhaps GC can post a short retrospective about taking puzzle submissions from teams - what worked, what didn't - since no one's done it like this before.
Well done! |
